CITY OF NEILLSVILLEHISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
The City of Neillville is located in Clark County Wisconsin. It was first permanently settled in 1844 by the O’Neill brothers and other lumberman. By 1853 Clark County was organized and the Post Office was named “Clark”. Its name was quickly changed to “Neillsville” - named after our Founder James O’Neill Sr. And in a colorful set of circumstances, Neillsville was selected as the new County Seat. Neillsville continued as a Village until 1882 when it was chartered as a City.
